For international media, all working for the French agenda in the African Great Lakes region, rebels' defeats sell more than the Congolese government victories, always. That is why you saw AP triumphantly announcing the alleged surrender of General Makenga yesterday. Of course, all journalists jumped unto such juicy news and repeated all the same line. what is puzzling is that the Government of Uganda has not made any declaration. i am not going to speculate about their reasons for not doing so. What I'd like to say is that those journalists are usually too quick to be objective. Besides, they will not dare to tell you that Makenga's men are still is the DRC with their armament , that would not sell and Ladsous guys cannot allow any media to say that. It would be an acknowledgement of yet another UN failure in the DRC.

Two things: Can you explain to us how you hope the Kampala Declaration, once it is signed, may help pave the way to addressing some of the root causes of the conflict in eastern Congo, and notably, how it might over time help address questions such as the return of Tutsi refugees from Rwanda? And secondly – and guarantees of land for Tutsi pastoralists in eastern Congo.

CHENGERERO  (Nord-Kivu) – Ceux qui étaient parti pour l’assaut sur les 3 collines (Chanzu, Mbuzi, et Runyoni) le jeudi 31 octobre dans des véhicules klaxonnant, ou jouant les dernières chansons (à la Mokongo ya Koba) de la musique congolaise sont vite revenus en courant par différents sentiers, cherchant tous comment atteindre Rutshuru – Centre.  Le gouverneur Julien Paluku a dû abandonner la tenue d’un meeting à cause de la résonnance des tirs M23 qui se rapprocher  de la bourgade de Chengerero.

Un officier FARDC blessé au bras gauche a reconnu des nombreuses pertes dans les rangs de l’armée gouvernementale. « En minimisant la capacité d’un adversaire qui se trouve dans son fief, nous avons eu le tort de nous approcher de la colline de Chanzu en surnombre sans une couverture aérienne consistante, » déclare à VirungaNews le capitaine Basala.
