President Paul Kagame has made this Thursday a reshuffle in the government by appointing Mr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi as the new Prime Minister of Rwanda.
Mr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi who will be sworn in next few days, was until his new appointment Minister of Education. He replaces Mr. Bernard Makuza who holds the longevity as Prime Minister for over 10 years.
Honorable Pierre Damien Habumuremyi is the Minister of Education of the Republic of Rwanda. He was born in Ruhondo, Musanze District on 21, February 1961. Hon Pierre Damien Is doing a PhD, in Political Science (conflicts management, 2006-2011) and completed his Research in Ouagadougou University, MSc, in Political science (2003), University PANTHEON ASSAS, PARIS II, France, Post graduate in Education (1993), Lubumbashi University, DRC and BSc, in Sociology (1992), Lubumbashi University, DRC. Before his Presidential Appointment as the new Primer Minister of Rwanda, he was Minister of Education. He was born in Ruhondo, Musanze District on 21, February 1961. Honorable Habumuremyi is doing a PhD, in Political Science (conflicts management, 2006-2011) and completed his Research in Ouagadougou University, MSc, in Political science (2003), University PANTHEON ASSAS, PARIS II, France, Post graduate in Education (1993), Lubumbashi University, DRC and BSc, in Sociology (1992), Lubumbashi University, DRC.
Honorable Habumuremyi served also in different areas:
2008 to 2011 member of the East African Parliament, 2003 to 2008, Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Commission of Rwanda. 2000 to 2003, Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Commission of Rwanda. 1997 to 2000, Senior project Manager, Catholic Relief Services, 1995 to 1997, coordinator, GTZ-Kigali, 1993 to 1999, Assistant Professor at the National University of Rwanda & Lecturer at ULK and UNILAK.
He is an Author of several publications including “The Political integration in Rwanda after the 1994 genocide: Utopia or Reality?, Kigali, Palotti Press, 2008”. He is also a member of International professional organizations such as “The African Electoral Authorities Association , Accra, Ghana”, “The African Network for Free Elections, Pretoria, South Africa” and “The East -Southern African Association of education and curricular development, Johannesburg, South Africa.
In addition, Hon. Pierre Damien participated in the following services: Participated to more than twenty five international conferences and more than fifty electoral observation missions in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Hon. Pierre Damien is married to Mrs. Musabyimana Petronilla And they have five children.
