An infant mountain gorilla was saved by the Rwandan Police last night on the 7^th day of August 2011. The baby gorilla is in good hand in Kinigi Quarantine Facility in Musanze District (Rwanda). The Facility got a call from the Volcanoes National Park informing them that a gorilla had been confiscated by police in Gisenyi, and that the poachers had been arrested.  Right the way a crew went to Gisenyi and met with the chief of police there, and learned that the baby gorilla had been captured in Bukima, a location in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Le président ougandais Yoweri Kaguta Museveni est depuis ce matin l’hôte officiel du Rwanda. Sa dernière visite dans le pays des milles collines remonte au mois de juillet 2009 lorsqu’il était venu recevoir une médaille pour sa contribution à la liberation du Rwanda.

La présente visite mettra à coup sur fin aux rumeurs et autres soupçons qui ont par le passé envenimé les relations entre les deux pays, pays  plutôt condamnés à une coopération saine compte tenu des liens historiques et du rôle non négligeable joué par les deux leaders dans les deux pays.

Un ancien officier supérieur de la rébellion  rwandaise, les Forces démocratiques de libération du Rwanda (FDLR) basées dans l'est de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC), le Général-Major Paul Rwarakabije, a été nommé nouveau patron des services pénitenciers.

Le Général-Major Paul Rwarakabije est un ancien membre de l’armée rwandaise (ex-FAR) sous le régime du président Juvénal Habyarimana. Il dirigera désormais les établissements correctionnels où la majorité des détenus sont en prison pour le génocide commis en 1994.

A Norwegian Court has ruled that Genocide fugitive, Charles Bandora, is extradited to Rwanda to face charges of committing Genocide related atrocities.

Speaking to Radio Rwanda, the head of the Genocide Fugitives Tracking Unit, John Bosco Siboyintore said that the Olso court passed the ruling against Bandora on Monday, subject to appeal.“The Olso City Court, on July 11 granted the extradition request which had been applied for by Rwanda,” Siboyintore said.

Le Tribunal pénal international pour le Rwanda a condamné, vendredi, à Arusha, à la prison à perpétuité l'ex-ministre de la famille Pauline Nyiramasuhuko, première femme reconnue coupable de génocide par une juridiction internationale. M^me Nyiramasuhuko a comparu, depuis juin 2001, avec son fils Arsene Shalom Ntahobali, deux anciens préfets de Butare ainsi que deux anciens maires. Poursuivis pour crimes de génocide et crimes contre l'humanité, les six accusés font partie, selon le procureur, des principaux responsables des massacres de Tutsi à Butare, au sud du Rwanda, en 1994.

NEW YORK — Rwanda's President Paul Kagame bristled Tuesday at suggestions that democracy is not flourishing in his country, and said that the 93 percent of the vote he won last year was not enough.

Kagame said Rwanda enjoys a multi-party political system and that he supports "a right that allows anybody, everybody to express themselves."

He said the will of the people was expressed during last year's presidential election. "So, 93 percent — I wonder why it wasn't higher than that," Kagame told the Council on Foreign Relations, a prominent New York-based think tank.

When a senior Human Rights Watch director in the audience challenged Kagame, the president said he did not want to hear "lectures."

KIGALI — A mountain gorilla in northern Rwanda has given birth to twins, a rare occurrence for an endangered species whose numbers have dwindled to less than 800, officials said Friday.

"The two babies, one male and one female, were born May 27," said Rica Rwigamba, head of tourism and conservation at the Rwanda Development Board.

"The two new-borns and their mother Ruvumu are well," she said.

It is only the seventh time in the last 40 years that a gorilla has given birth to twins. Twin gorillas were last born in February.
